The formation of the 8th Central Pay Commission has become increasingly uncertain, especially with four key Under Secretary (Level 11) posts still lying vacant. These positions are very crucial for the pay structure, allowance and making of pay levels, were last open for application until 30th June 2025. However, the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has now extended the deadline to 31st July 2025 — marking the third extension. This repeated delay is causing growing concern and confusion among Central Government employees and pensioners. Many are now questioning the seriousness of the government’s commitment to setting up the 8th Pay Commission. If it’s taking over six months just to fill essential committee roles, it raises doubts about how long it might take for the commission’s recommendations to actually be implementation.
